IPID Raises $16M Series A to Fix Gaps in Global Payments
Foundation Capital leads the round with backing from Citi and HSBC as demand grows for payment intelligence solutions worldwide.
IPID, a payments intelligence company focused on helping financial institutions verify the recipients of direct payments, has closed a $16 million Series A funding round, the company announced September 25, 2026. The round was led by Foundation Capital, with participation from global banking giants Citi and HSBC.
The Singapore- and New York-based firm addresses what it describes as a growing blind spot in the global payments ecosystem: institutions increasingly moving money without sufficient knowledge of who, exactly, is receiving those funds. As direct payment volumes expand internationally, the verification gap has drawn heightened scrutiny from banks and regulators alike.

The involvement of Citi and HSBC as investors signals that established financial institutions are willing to put capital behind startups tackling payment accuracy and fraud-prevention infrastructure. Both banks operate extensive cross-border payment networks, giving them a direct stake in technologies that reduce misdirected or fraudulent transactions.
The fresh capital is expected to accelerate IPID's efforts to scale its intelligence platform across additional markets, at a moment when real-time and direct payment rails are proliferating across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. The convergence of faster payments and the persistent challenge of recipient verification makes the problem IPID targets both commercially significant and operationally urgent for global banks.
